Jingle Puzzles review and giveaway!

Recently we were sent a jingle puzzle to review and here is what we thought.....

Chester loves nursery rhymes and can often be heard singing away to Millie, he does like puzzles but his attention span is short so normally I have to finish them off for him! So when I was told about a new range of puzzles by Music for kids I was intrigued  to see how long they held Chester's attention for!

We received The Wheels on the Bus Jingle puzzle. In the box was a metre long floor jigsaw puzzle, a sing a long CD with a bonus story, an activity booklet and some stickers.

When I first showed Chester the box he was very excited, he instantly recognised the Wheels on the Bus design and started singing it too me! We opened the box and put on the CD, Chester recognised nearly all of the nursery rhymes and I learnt some new ones! Whilst we were busy singing along to the CD we were also busy putting the puzzle together. The puzzle is a little different to your average pre school puzzle, it is a metre long and rectangle in shape. The puzzle pieces were of a good size and they were only 2 deep, which made it  difficult enough to be challenging (with it being a metre long) but at the same time it was simple enough for your little one to work it out for themselves. Chester soon worked out that the top pieces were mostly orange and the bottom mostly blues/greens. See I told you it was easy enough for little ones!

Once we had finished the puzzle Chester wanted to pull it apart and start again, typical Chester! But I managed to change his mind with the bribe of a sticker! We got out the activity book and I started asking Chester the questions that related to the puzzle, he was happy to try and answer them and even happier when I gave him a sticker as a reward! The stickers were supposed to be to put in the activity book, but every child is different and Chester is a child that would rather be wearing the sticker!

Rewarding himself with a sticker!!
Before we knew it an hour had gone past and I had managed to hold Chester's attention the whole time! The Jingle Puzzle retails at £9.99 and for what you get in the box and the hours on entertainment it provides I would say that is a fair price, everything was of good quality and durable (a major plus in a house with a destructive boy!). Age wise, I would say that it is suitable from age three to five as that is when they will be interested in puzzles AND nursery rhymes.  The only suggestion that I would have is that Music for Kids consider doing a top up pack of Stickers/activity sheets, admittedly we have played with it lots (well that is the idea isn't it?!) so we used up the stickers/coloured in the pack pretty quickly. I would be happy to buy a top up pack if one was available as I know this will be a big hit in our house for a long time. The Jingle Puzzle is available to purchase from www.musicroom.com and is available in four popular nursery rhymes. The Wheels on the Bus, Five Little Speckled Frogs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Old MacDonald Had a Farm.

I am lucky enough to have been offered Old MacDonald Had a Farm for a giveaway! To enter all you need to do is answer one simple question, you can also earn additional entries but these are not compulsory.

The giveaway starts on 4th September 2012 it is open to UK residents only. Entry will be via a rafflecopter form below, the giveaway will finish at 11.59pm on Sunday 30th September 2012.
